The present species could be confused with
A. cyclops in
the field except for
the proportion of the pileus radius occupied by the
marginal striations—0.25-0.4R in the present
species and 0.55-0.6R in A. cyclops
The fuligineus disc of A. cyclops has its
pigment constrained within a well defined circle, while
the umbraceous pigment of the center of the cap
in the present species is not so confined, but has
more or less narrow regions (suggesting a sun's
rays) concolorous with the disc that project to or
into the pileus' striate region.

Spore data for collections provisionally identified as: Amanita sp-61 Tulloss, Kudzma & Wasilewski
Each spore data set is intended to comprise a set of measurements from a single specimen made by a single observer;
and explanations prepared for this site talk about specimen-observer pairs associated with each data set.
Combining more data into a single data set is non-optimal because it obscures observer differences
(which may be valuable for instructional purposes, for example) and may obscure instances in which
a single collection inadvertently contains a mixture of taxa.
