intro
Olive text indicates a specimen that has not been
thoroughly examined (for example, for microscopic details) and marks other places in the text
where data is missing or uncertain.
The following is based upon original research by R. E. Tulloss.
pileus
60 mm wide, brownish orange (drying in situ), hemispheric, subshiny, dry; context 4.5 - 5.5 mm thick at stipe, sordid pink under pileipellis, shading to white below, with thin watery line above lamellae; margin striate (0.2R), nonappendiculate; universal veil as single small patch near disc, pallid, sordid, membranous, smooth, detersile.
lamellae
free to narrowly adnate, with long (10× lens) decurrent line on stipe apex, ??, pale ochraceous in mass, sordid white in side view, 3.5 mm broad, with pale ochraceous edge; lamellulae truncate, of diverse lengths, unevenly distributed, plentiful.
stipe
62 × 8 mm, pale ochraceous above, brown to orange-brown to gray-brown in lower two-thirds (from handling? or age?), narrowing upward slightly, not flaring at apex, finely pulverulent above, longitudinally striate below; context grayish pink above, white in part, grayish at base, stuffed with firmly packed white cottony fibrils, with 4 mm wide central cylinder; exannulate; universal veil as saccate volva, pale ochre with deep ochraceous stains throughout upper third, membranous, tough, leathery, thin, 29 mm from base of stipe to highest point of limb.

Spore data for collections provisionally identified as: Amanita sp-NM08 Tulloss
Each spore data set is intended to comprise a set of measurements from a single specimen made by a single observer;
and explanations prepared for this site talk about specimen-observer pairs associated with each data set.
Combining more data into a single data set is non-optimal because it obscures observer differences
(which may be valuable for instructional purposes, for example) and may obscure instances in which
a single collection inadvertently contains a mixture of taxa.
