Updated tech tab:
Amanita justicei.
13 August 2023:
Added directory page: All links to color variants of
Amanita chrysoblema are consolidated on a
single page which is named "species chrysoblema."
7 August 2023:
page changes:
Amanita sp-T53 is merged with
A.
trygonion and the temporary code is abandoned
permanently. This means
sp-T35 disappears from the
provisional subsection
Penetratrices.
Updated techtabs:
Amanita penetratrix.
4-6 August 2023:
Updated techtabs: Extensive additions were made to
Amanita penetratrix in the discussion of subsection
Penetratrices. Both sources for membership
in the
Penetratrices are extended and complete to the extent of our
knowledge. We are targetting production of an updated morphological
characterization of the subsection with the hope of clearly excluding
A.
petersenii on morphological grounds. We also are
targeting enough phylogenetic work to find "natural" subdivisions of the subsection.
23 July 2023:
New taxon page: A new provisional species of section
Vaginatae is
added to the site
from North Carolina—
A. taciturna. It is unassuming or "quiet" because
it lacks bright colors and doesn't call attention to itself.&mbsp; However,
its ITS-LSU sequences are very distinctive. A skeleton page has been
posted.
23 July 2023: The range of
Amanita albiceps is extended from Quebec
to Wisconsin and Texas.
A number of new sequences (ITS, ITS-LSU, and LSU) have been posted to GenBank and
GB accession numbers are being posted to the WAO website today.
Updated techtabs:
Amanita albiceps, ...
10 July 2023:
Updated techtab:
Amanita domingensis.
3-9 July 2023:
New taxon page: Amanita sp-ONT05 is new from Ontario, Canada.
It is based on another collection by Eva Skific. Genetically, nothing in
GenBank is within 1.3% genetic distance of this proposed entity.
Temporary code disappears: Amanita sp-DR01 is permantly merged into
Amanita domingensis. The temporary code is permanently retired.
Updated brief tabs: Amanita balmei and
A. batonrougensis.
Updated techtab: Amanita sp-ONT04 and A. sp-ONT05.

and Zhuliangomyces subillinita.
2-7 June 2023:
New taxon pages: Amanita sp-V04 is a submetallic gray species of
stirps Sororcula.
Amanita sp-xanthomitra03 is a distinct speicies

specimen and its flawed rpb2 sequence
that suggest its placement in the provisional subsection Penetratrices.
Possibly, it will prove to be a known species of the subsection.

19 January 2023:
All herbarium shelves are accessible. There is still lots of junk piled in
the herbarium, but the room is about to be fully usable in a post flood form.
That is to say, everything that should be there is there, and everything that
should be somewhere else is still there in part. About 24 hours away is a
workable work table and a workable small desk...cross fingers.
We're working on submission of many sequences to GenBank, with particular focus
on section Amanita section Amidella.
The genes targeted are nrITS, nrLSU, and rpb2.
Updated techtab: Amanita floridella.
