Amanita cetovenori---"the whaler's ringless amanita,"
known from Saddle Island, Red Bay,
Labrador, Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada) is proposed
provisionally for
one of the collections formerly lumped together under the temporary code
"
A. sp-NFL-10." The latter provisional taxon is now applied
to two collections from the Island of Newfoundland and may, again, be
"split."
Other items: Among other recent changes induced by our participation
in the Agaricales Diversification project, we report an albino specimen of
A. fulva.

Amanita sp-59 has become
Amanita pseudopenetrans. One of the reasons for using this name is
that, macroscopically, it seems to have some affinity to species of stirps
Penetratrix; however, genetically it is quite distinct from the
Penetratrices and, indeed, from all species of section
Vaginatae
that, to date, have sequences posted in GenBank.

New stirps and taxonomic moves: The stirps
Ovoidea is created and contains
Amanita neoovoidea,
A. ovoidea, and
A. proxima. This
stirps is segregated from section
Amidella and is placed in section
Lepidella. This movement is justifiable on morphological and
molecular grounds. This also results in
A. proxima, which contains
allenic norleucine being placed in the same section with stirps
Rhopalopus the three species of which also contain the
nephrotoxin.
